Powell's is once again exhibiting at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan, May 7-10, 2009. The Congress is an annual gathering of medieval studies scholars and enthusiasts, featuring papers, discussions, workshops, and performances. We are one of 70 plus exhibitors and will showcase our medieval book collections, from the rarest of the rare to the well-respected scholarly title. Taschen and Powell's Books are teaming up for a Taschen Warehouse Sale at our North Store in Lincoln Park, April 22nd through May 5th, 2009. Taschen has warehouse sales two times a year in their stores in Hong Kong, Koln, London, Los Angleles, Madrid, Paris, and Tokyo. This year, for the first time, Taschen will extend their sale to Chicago, and we're hosting! Come to our North Store in Lincoln Park for the Taschen Warehouse Sale - you can expect AMAZING Taschen titles at absurdly HUGE discounts.

Powell's South gets a new (old) desk! If you visit our Hyde Park store, you may notice something different. We recently had our desk rebuilt by Urban Woods Project to include book displays and to give us more storage space. Reusing old materials, parts of the old and other desks, and pure ingenuity, the Urban Woods Project carpenter was able to transform our old desk into a more functional and better looking hunk of wood. Stay tuned for more Powell's home improvements.
